Usually a simple peasant dress, though some heavier dresses and a shawl and over-sized military boots stuffed with rags in the winter. She carries a slim dagger on her as well a few coins secreted here and there, as well as a simple ring of silver she wears as a pendant on a leather strip around her neck.
Mary’s early life was not a happy one. A Child of a Camp follower to some English Knight, her families stock was always some-what low, and she, a younger child, had less than most. She was practically raised in alternating times of following ‘armies’ or wintering near castles and grew up with few expectations and fewer prospects. That she grew into a pretty girl was aided by an intelligence and cunning that was not common among her sisters and brothers. Mary wasn’t going to end up in the same position as her mother. Mary saw that there was other ways to live, and she is quite enamored of finding one.
She has cultivated a knowledge of the camp, and of people. She ended up joining with the Mercenary band perhaps two years ago, seeing in them a step up from her previous circumstances. Still she was nearing thinking to end her time with them, finding that her opportunities for advancement were low. But the entry to the Covenant has changed her mind. Here is a place with actual warm beds that they look to be staying in for some time. Here is also a place with Men who are not nobles, yet seem to command money and respect. While she previously had set her gaze on trying to nab some Merchant as a husband, her eye is now tracing over those of the Covenant, and wondering which of these ‘Mages’ she might be able to show her own brand of enchantment.
She is a full, well rounded girl whose curves don’t speak to her years of poor diet. She is pale with long hair the colour of Straw from which she gets her nick-name. Matilda is about the only person in the camp around which she behaves, mostly because despite her flightiness, she isn’t a fool. She has, at various times, warmed the beds of a few members of the company, and despite her capriciousness, she could readily climb into a couple more. She’s a girl with her eye on the long game, and she’s not above using anything she’s got to get it.
